I think Andrea Peery should be highlighted for a DAISY Leader award. One of the things I admire most about Andrea is that she is a great leader for us in the PICU. She is always willing to jump in and help or be a voice and a resource to use. This last week she helped run two staff assists on my patient and remained calm and was extremely helpful. Things went so smoothly because she was there. She helps create an environment where there is support, trust, and respect. She is the first person I go to when I am unsure. She is easy to approach and ask questions for.

Andrea motivates all of us to be better nurses, including myself. She creates a positive unit environment that makes coming to work fun and exciting. The thing I appreciate the most about Andrea is that she cares about the staff and everyone around her. She makes it known that she is here for us while at work but makes sure we are doing well outside of work. She is amazing at keeping updated with each of us and our lives and what is important to us. I can’t tell you how amazing it was to have her reach out to make sure things were going well when an unexpected family emergency arose last week. She is one of the greatest assets to this unit and makes a big difference among the staff. Andrea is the true definition of a nurse leader. She has the utmost compassion for her peers, motivates others around her, and is easy to approach. I truly feel lucky to work alongside Andrea.
