Hannah told my uncle that he shouldn’t be worried and that in this Chemo session, she will make sure everything will be ok.
I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the Staff Nurse who took care of my uncle during his 6th dose of chemo in the L-3 Infusion center. As soon as we came in and she received my uncle as one of her patients, she started examining my uncle and I was there translating to my uncle what she is saying to him, she was so nice with her treatment. She asked how his previous Chemo doses had gone and my uncle told her that all 5 doses were difficult with pain during and after the session and not wanting to talk or eat because he has lost his appetite. She was present, hearing, and wanting to know his status before she proceed with the Chemo session.
Hannah told my uncle that he shouldn’t be worried and that in this Chemo session, she will make sure everything will be ok. When I went out to tell her that I was going to the medical store to bring my uncle supplements, she told me not to go and that she could ask the assistants to bring them while I can just stay with my uncle. But I insisted to pick them up myself as my uncle was sleeping. She told me that she will be checking him in case he needs anything, and as I was walking out I told her that my uncle was not happy and he would love to stop the chemo treatments because every time he takes chemo he gets tired and depressed.
I came back to my uncle from the medical stores and he told me that a psychiatric doctor had passed by and she was giving him emotional support and encouraging him with great stories to fight this cancer and complete his treatment and get well and be healthy soon. My family and I saw how my uncle was feeling after his 6th dose. He is now always saying that the last dose was unique and that he did not feel pain or tiredness as he had with the past 5 doses. I know that all of this would not have happened if Hannah had not listened and understood her patient, my uncle. She made a difference, and we didn’t even ask her, yet Ms. Hannah provided us with all the help that she could see that we needed. I am writing this not just because of me, I am honestly writing about my uncle’s feelings and appreciation for the great care from our Nurse Ms. Hannah Alexandra Lyons.
