Maura Caffrey is an amazing nurse and an even better person! Maura started a phenomenal fundraising event called Miles4Merak (M4M), in honor of Merak Hatounian, to help fund and research those who have GIST. The fundraising event encourages participants to join a team and challenges them to a Step Challenge! Not only did she spread awareness of GIST, but Maura also promoted physical activity and exercise! It started as a Hospital-Wide fundraiser and has now reached many around San Diego. Last year’s event garnered over $100,000 in donations!

On top of that Maura’s dedication to the patients and to everyone on the unit is evident every day she works on the floor. Every J4 member admires and respects Maura; she is our life coach and an amazing Resource/Charge nurse who brings positivity to every situation. It is a joy and privilege to have her as a coworker.
