Although this was only done virtually once a week, a lot of his participants have had positive comments on the programme as it helped their mental health and decreased their anxiety levels during the lockdown.
I believe that Johnas has been demonstrating the Trusts values (Personal, Safe, Responsible & Respectful). Johnas has been a part of our well-known community service (ACERS Team).

He has been working as a Respiratory nurse specialist and Oxygen Lead Nurse for the team. With over 200 oxygen cases in the community of City and Hackney, Johnas is able to manage and give the patients and their relatives the information that they need when they are assessed for oxygen or even given long-term oxygen treatment at home. He makes them feel safer and comfortable with the use of oxygen.

As a non-medical prescriber within the team, he makes sure he acts on the best interest of the patients he looks after.

He always makes sure he gives the best quality patient-centered care. (SAFE)

Johnas acts professionally at all times dealing with patients and colleagues alike. He demonstrates a positive attitude and also acts as a role model to his colleagues and the student nurses in which he acts as a “Key Mentor” for the team (for over 5 years). He also engages himself with our clinical supervision sessions within ACERS to impart his knowledge and experience as a Senior Band 7 Nurse. (RESPECTFUL)

Johnas has started the “Singing for Lung Health” Programme in City and Hackney. It went on for over 5 years. During the time of the pandemic, Johnas had the choice to stop these sessions, but he continued with singing as this is his passion. At the same time helping patients with their mental health during the lockdown. Although this was only done virtually once a week, a lot of his participants have had positive comments on the programme as it helped their mental health and decreased their anxiety levels during the lockdown. Johnas finds this programme extra special as this made him express his emotions through the power of singing. (PERSONAL)

Johnas the way I’ve known him, has been a very responsible clinician. He makes sure he checks his patients via telephone even if his duty hours have finished, just to make sure they are ok with the oxygen use. As a responsible clinician, he helps his colleagues with the proper use of Patient Group Directives (PGD) within the team. This is also to make sure his teammates are covered in using or giving advice to patients/ relatives about the use of antibiotics and steroids when needed. (RESPONSIBLE)

Just almost a year ago, Johnas has been given recognition by the “Queen’s Nurse Institute” (QNI) to be one of the hard-working Community Nurses in Hackney and was awarded a certificate by them. Therefore, for me, I am very much privileged to nominate Johnas Manangan for the DAISY Award.
