Erin has been nothing but an incredible nurse manager. She is not a manager who sits and hides in her office. She is constantly present on the unit and a resource for her staff. She fosters a positive work environment and promotes good mental health.

For example, Erin bought a giant poster for our break room where staff on their breaks can utilize art therapy to unwind and take a much-needed break from the challenges in the unit. In addition, she is enthusiastic and motivates staff to pursue higher education, the clinical ladder, and nursing certifications. Because of this, we have a well-educated team that improves patient outcomes.

Erin continues to uphold a great sense of teamwork. She leads by example and comes in on her time off to float and help through the unit. She also always offers to help so all nurses can get their lunch breaks!

Most importantly, Erin is approachable. She is easy to talk to regarding concerns, questions, or ideas that may benefit the staff, our patients, and the unit. In addition, she gives the staff multiple opportunities to communicate with her, in person, via email, zoom, or even an anonymous QR code or survey with suggestions. I cannot recommend her more highly! I love working for her, and she deserves this Award.

Erin Kelley has done amazing things for 5W. Her office is always open to discussing concerns, bad days, needed motivation, etc. She touches base with us after a bad day and ensures we always feel supported. She is on the floor with staff RNs multiple times daily and does not shy away from covering assignments, lunch breaks, hard sticks, etc. She has built a culture on 5W of mutual respect and kindness across all staff. She has advocated for her team regarding staffing, pulls, etc. She has created a culture that fosters growth and the best care possible for our patients.
