I had been transferred from the ER to MTU for about 28 hrs. Day one on the floor was bad. I was in isolation so my family couldn't see me. I was scared and I didn't understand what was happening. My IV pump was always going into alarm and my nurse kept telling me it was my fault. Day two came and Paige walked in. She introduced herself and asked what I needed. She fixed the issue with IV pump so it stopped going into alarm. When she gave me my morning medications, she explained what she was giving me and what it was for. Paige took the time to communicate and show she cared. She showed me more kindness in a few hours than I had received in 2 1/2 days. That kindness helped me to relax and rest! When the isolation restriction was lifted and my daughter came, Paige offered to get her a drink when she refilled mine. Paige had 6 patients and was very busy but I felt like her only patient when she came in. Paige showed the true meaning of caring and compassion. She made a difficult time, pleasant and less scary. She made this old man's heart melt. Thank you Paige for being my angel for the day!
