I would like to nominate Sarah. She cared for my uncle, on the day he died. I have been a nurse myself for 33 years and have encountered many compassionate nurses in my career, but Sarah stands out as one of the most compassionate and genuinely caring nurses. I could tell from the first phone call encounter with her that she cared. She knew how hard it was to have a loved one in the hospital dying and she provided information accurately, patiently, and in a manner that made you feel like our Uncle was her only Patient. She called to let me know he passed and was so genuine. When we came to see my uncle, she continued to display compassion and understanding. Genuine caring and empathy for our loss. Being a family member and not a nurse is difficult but Sarah helped my role change. She knew I needed a nurse who cared and at that moment not to be the nurse. I believe Sarah is the epitome of what a genuine, caring, and compassionate nurse should be!
