My family experienced one of the most life-changing events recently when my brother-in-law was found unresponsive and transported to Carthage. This took place on a Monday night, the week of his only daughter's wedding. As we patiently waited for a bed to become available in Tyler, we were treated with such true compassion and acts of kindness by the ER staff. While watching her dad fade away, the bride asked for permission to get married at her father's bedside. Nurse Susan was very attentive and compassionate, showing such a caring nature that shined through to our family. She was great! She has a heart of gold. Once Susan knew of the bride's wishes, Susan began making arrangements for the patient (father of the bride) to look his best under the circumstances for this bittersweet occasion. She gathered up staff, clean linens, bathed, and groomed my brother-in-law to look his best for this sad yet very happy event. Susan shows this kind of caring heart for every patient regardless of the circumstances. She will always have a special place in our hearts for going the extra mile as we lived out one of the worse weeks of our lives. The few picture's taken of the event with her father by her side are priceless. As his eyes closed in death, the memories and love shown to our family will NEVER be forgotten.
