She is being recognized for the care and compassion that she shows toward all of her surgical patients. She always treats her patients as she would her loved ones and exemplifies the Baptist values of integrity, respect, excellence, collaboration, compassion, and joy with every interaction. She is an exceptional nurse with a huge heart! She recently connected with one of her surgical patients that did not have a strong family support system here at the hospital. She found out that the patient did not have a phone charger and was unable to speak with her family and children at home. This patient was an inpatient for several weeks and had several procedures performed during the admission. She went out and not only bought her a phone charger but also bought her some snacks and a stuffed animal. The patient would come to pre-op for additional surgeries with her stuffed animal and would always ask for her. Our charge nurse was here on call one weekend and the patient’s door was open so she stopped in to check on her and she could not say enough good things about what she did for her. She was tearing up talking about how she touched her heart. She always empathizes with her patients and pours her heart out to ensure they are comfortable and calm prior to their surgical procedures. She has a way of showing how precious her heart is to everyone she encounters, and gains trust immediately upon connecting with others.
