Not many nurses have such a passion that is so specific, but Laura does. She has always been drawn to help those with what can arguably be the most difficult discussions, end of life decisions. Laura saw a need here at Riverside Community Hospital and was asked to help create and accepted the role of forming a Palliative Care Program. Not only did she work through the logistics of opening a brand-new program, but she also has single-handedly kept it running and has served thousands of patients and families in the Inland Empire. Laura provides education to families and patients so they can make the decisions that are right for them. When she is with these families, she brings with her a servant's heart that instantly permeates the entire patient room. In these sensitive and trying times, families are instantly soothed by her presence and kindness throughout the end of life journey. The hospital, patients, families, staff, and community at large are incredibly touched by her compassion and grateful for her service.
