There is not a day that goes by that I don’t receive recognition for Joseph Yap, either from peers or patients. So many patients have written such wonderful things about him and how Joseph is such a great nurse. His patients use words like ‘awesome, amazing, the best nurse, attentive and one of a kind’ when describing him. He is so good at communicating and attending to their needs. The best part is that Joseph makes such great connections with patients and families and truly enjoys getting to know them. He constantly says all he wants is to be here for his patients, and that is why he works so hard. Joseph never skips a beat and never hesitates to get what his patients need; he is dedicated to his patients.

Joseph always brings laughter to the unit and constantly says jokes to keep the spirit up, even on difficult days. Several patients comment about how he makes them laugh to pass the time and is so funny. He understands that laughter can heal the soul and is truly a gem. Joseph has so much compassion for bedside care and his heart is in it for the right reasons. He knows the influence a nurse can have on a patient’s outcome, as well as their family, and he takes his job with the utmost respect and heart.
