Guiyun was an excellent communicator throughout our appointment and I was so impressed with her knowledge and expertise in the area, as well as her compassion and people skills. It was clear she had spent time before our appointment to review notes, and it truly made me feel like we weren’t just “a number” on a Friday afternoon! It makes me feel like my mother is in great hands here at Duke. Guiyun explained her role on the team clearly and was patient with us (especially as nerves were high, and I know how easy it can be becoming impatient or frustrated with patients) but she was very caring. She could tell my mother was anxious and she helped ease anxieties. She even pivoted and administered a bone marrow test that same day after our initial meeting. She explained the procedure and really was attentive to my mom. Overall, as much as I don’t like to admit, I was very anxious about this appointment (for my mom!) but I felt very safe with her. I hope she gets the recognition she deserves!
