She made time to listen to me and she genuinely cared and empathized.
Darci hadn’t cared for me before this stay and I have a very complicated medical issue. She took the time and effort to research and learn how best to care for me and my end-stage disease and many comorbidities. She listened to me. When I started having a mast cell crisis, she took action quickly and knew just what to do, all because she took time from the beginning to listen and learn. She made sure she was on time every time with the things I needed for severe pain control. She advocated for me to the doctors. She never made me feel like I was a burden. After getting some devastating news about my disease's future and prognosis, she made time to listen to me and she genuinely cared and empathized. It’s obvious this isn’t a “job” to her and I recognize it because I was that kind of nurse too. She doesn’t seem to forget about the CARE part of healthcare which involves connection, respect, trust, and understanding. She’s a wonderful nurse and deserves to be recognized for going far beyond just “giving meds” or “following orders.” Her heart is in it. She made a very scary stay that changed minute to minute much more positive with her kind demeanor and caring heart. Thank you for going the extra mile. You made a huge impact and difference during a time most would have been frantic and made worse.
