When I handed the patient the booklet she had literal tears in her eyes. Her mom asked if she was okay and the patient replied, "I'm just so happy Nurse Amy made this for me".
Amy was so kind, warm, and inviting when my 5-year-old daughter was moved from the ED to pediatrics. She had a pillow case, blanket, and stuffed unicorn ready for her that put a bright little smile on her face after lots of medication and pokes to get her stabilized. She was mindful of our comfort and concerns as parents. We feel very fortunate that in a crummy situation, we were provided the best care.

Amy was the admitting nurse and overnight nurse. She went above and beyond all night to keep the patient happy and encourage sleep. The patient had told Amy that she was so sad to miss school tomorrow because it was 'K day' at school and her name started with K. While the patient slept, Nurse Amy made a booklet with worksheets and coloring pages all about the letter K. She left a sweet note on the booklet for the dayshift nurse to give to the patient. When I handed the patient the booklet she had literal tears in her eyes. Her mom asked if she was okay and the patient replied, "I'm just so happy Nurse Amy made this for me". She completed the packet so fast and showed it off to everybody. She could not stop talking about Nurse Amy. She made a huge difference in this patient's stay. The patient's family was SO grateful and couldn't stop singing her praises. I hope to be like her one day.
