She made me feel involved with my care and it really meant a lot.
From day 1 Sarah (Marshall) knew that I was a rookie in the hospital- that I had never been in one before. She started talking to me about my diagnosis and what was happening. She frequently kept checking on me even when I wasn’t ringing the bell. She would talk with me before I went to sleep and came around and would say goodbye before she left. At one point the doctor told me that I had heart failure, which made me really upset and panicked all day. When she came on shift, she noticed that I wasn’t the same as previous days. She asked me about how I was feeling and made me feel so much more comfortable about my diagnosis and what was happening. She made me feel involved with my care and it really meant a lot. The morning I left, she left me a nice supportive note while I was asleep to say goodbye and wish me luck. She is an angel and I wish all nurses were like her, I felt like she became a friend.
