The relationship that Sherri has developed with the client and family is really one of a kind. Sherri is basically part of their family. They also are confident that while Sherri is there their daughter is getting the best possible care.
Sherri knows her client so well. She is able to determine very quickly any changes that happen with her client’s health and is very quick to act to prevent any type of illness that would require a hospital admission. The relationship that Sherri has developed with the client and family is really one of a kind. Sherri is basically part of their family. They know exactly when she will be there and when she will leave. They also are confident that while Sherri is there their daughter is getting the best possible care.
Sherri has a great routine with the client and is able to complete all of the tasks assigned to her in her shift. She takes the time to make sure that her client also has her psychological needs met as well. What teenage girl doesn’t want their hair to look pretty or have their nails (or toes) painted? Sherri knows what her client likes to do for fun as well. Her client loves to paint kindness rocks and hide them for strangers to find. For those of you who do not know a kindness rock is any rock painted and left for someone to find just to brighten their day. Now Sherri’s client loves to paint them and then knowing how difficult it is for her client to be able to leave the home to hide rocks, Sherri does it for her on her own time and then reports to the client where the rock has been hidden. Whenever possible during the downtime of the client’s routine Sherri is also willing to sit through some of her client’s favorite TV shows, CHIPS and Nightrider.
Because of how great she is with her client, who is also a complex kid, and also so great with her charting Sherri is always my go-to for any new employee to train with. She is able to train on the client’s cares, charting, using Relias, using Notifyd, and getting into the website and the job resources located there. Besides the electronic charting she completes she also keeps a very detailed communication book about her client. If you have a question about what occurred on a specific date, Sherri, or anyone in the home, can pull out a notebook and turn the pages to the date you are questioning and will find a very detailed description of the day. The staff that works in the home with Sherri love the notebook because they can refer to it if they have any questions on what should routinely happen from day to day and things to watch out for when it comes to monitoring the client’s health. Parents will also make use of Sherri’s notebook when going to physician appointments to gather information. Sherri will also help keep things in the client’s area within the home very neat and tidy, and more often than not very organized. She makes supplies orders and will put them away when they arrive. She keeps parents up to date on everything going on and what she accomplishes from day to day.
Her client’s family has had to move a few times in the 2 years I have been their Clinical Manager, and Sherri is more than happy to help pack up the client’s belongings and also unpack them to help keep things organized. If she feels that there is any issue with the client or care being given she is wonderful at educating either the staff or the family on the why of what is happening and also provides education on what to do or what to change or what best practice would be. Sherri is such a caring person, and not only for her client. Sherri has on many occasions called to check in with me to make sure I am having a good day and that there is not anything she can do to help me. With new office staff that are hired, she is the first of the field staff to come in and introduce herself and to meet the new person, she also may come in tow with some freshly made caramel popcorn as a welcome to the team present. She wants to know the people she works with and wants them to know who she is as well.
