My son was hospitalized twice for complications due to a ruptured appendix. Virginia was his nurse during both of those stays. She was a ray of sunshine. She always entered the room smiling and happy. She worked hard to improve not only S's health but also his spirit. She showed true concern for S's well-being. She listened to my concerns and assured me that they were valid and that both hers and Southeast Health's priority was patient care and satisfaction. Virginia worked with me to get all the best for Sam. She celebrated with us when he was able to go home! She carefully went over each step for continuing his care at home. She even helped us carry everything out of the hospital! Virginia is a true treasure at Southeast Health. It is my true honor to nominate her for the DAISY Award!

Today I was discharged. Virginia not only carried my bags downstairs because there wasn’t a wheelchair available on the floor but when I realized I had not taken my medicine, she went back and retrieved it and waited until I took the meds. This is not my first time having Virginia as my nurse and she takes very good care of me every time.
