Whenever he needs to start an IV, it’s usually an emergency and he is always very kind and calm with the patient.
Joe always comes by to check on L&D when he’s working. He helps in ways he can – even simple things like starting IVs. I had a 23-week patient in triage who was bleeding. She was being transferred to OPR, but needed a magnesium infusion immediately to preserve her unborn baby’s brain function and to stop preterm contractions. She was a very hard IV stick.
I texted Joe that I needed him to help start this IV and facilitate her transfer to a higher level of care and he immediately came up. After he got the IV in he made sure we didn’t need anything else.
