I was a patient in the same day surgery area for a follow up colonoscopy and want to nominate Ashlyn and Jamie that cared for me for their exceptional care! From the moment I arrived, the entire SDS team was welcoming, compassionate, and professional, but Ashlyn took time to connect and just talk which greatly alleviated my fears/anxiety. Her amazing bedside personality was immensely appreciated, because the last time I was in this area, I received news that dramatically changed the trajectory of my life (I left with a colon cancer diagnosis), and returning had made me more anxious than even I anticipated (although I was trying to hide it). Ashlyn immediately put me at ease, and made sure that my every need was attended to - from warm blankets, to adjusting the bed, to just talking about life. She took time out of what I’m sure was her busy day to make me feel more than just another patient in the cavalcade of patients that come through SDS on a daily basis.

In recovery, Jamie made sure I was very comfortable and had everything I needed - crackers, drinks (although I really would have appreciated the margarita - LOL), and making sure I was comfortable. Ashlyn and Jamie went above and beyond to make sure my infiltrated IV site was cared for with tender loving care also (please excuse any typos - I blame it on the “propofol fingers”).

As a pediatric/PICU hospitalist/ED physician, I am lucky enough to work with some exceptional nurses and consider myself adept at recognizing awesome nurses - Ashlyn and Jamie are the epitome of excellence and should be recognized as such!!! RMC and SDS are lucky to have great nurses like Ashlyn and Jamie who go above and beyond for their patients.
