I felt that Gavin listened and sincerely felt compassion for our family’s situation.
I arrived from Philadelphia PA on Saturday, April 15th, to visit my younger brother who has been in the hospital for several weeks. I spoke with all the doctors who were providing care for my brother and had confidence in their plan of treatment. It's nothing like hearing the words straight from the doctors, versus through other family members. When I stepped into the room, I was greeted by Gavin and he showed an enormous amount of care for my brother. He listened to my concerns about my brother's healthcare and was able to assure me that he is getting the best medical team at Advocate. I felt that he listened and sincerely felt compassion for our family’s situation. I had so many questions about his care and the amount of machines that were connected to him. As I inquired about the pieces of equipment surrounding my brother, Gavin explained what the equipment was for, and the medicines they dispensed. He also informed me of what those specific medicines were for. Then, when it came time to change the bedding and tubing, he explained why these things needed to be done at certain intervals. Gavin’s patience with my questions and his constant monitoring of the medicines and equipment made me realize how dedicated he is to his profession. He stationed his desk just inside the room and never left. When he needed assistance to change the bedding, he was so gentle with my brother and made sure that his co-workers were as well. I felt that Gavin had a sense of caring and respect for my brother. I saw his interactions with my sister-in-law, I heard him speaking to my nephews on the phone, and after interacting with Gavin during his shift, I felt that my brother and his family were being provided with the best care. I said to Gavin before he went off duty "Dude, I don't know how much they are paying you, but it's not enough." Thanks to Gavin, Advocate Christ Medical Center has my 100% confidence in my brother’s treatment." I wish to thank Gavin W. and Advocate Christ Medical Center for all that you have done during this delicate time.
