Kenia is one of our newer nurses. She is very passionate about her patients. We have a patient in ICU who was chronically and critically sick. Over the weeks of the patient's stay in the ICU, Kenia was able to build a trusting relationship with the patient and his family. Multiple family meetings were held with the medical staff advocating for palliative care. The family was hesitant and scared to make a vital decision. Kenia took time to sit with the patient's family and explain the pros and cons of the different patient care spectrums. She was honest and transparent with the patient's course of treatment. She empathized with them. She eased their fears and anxiety. She played a very vital role in the patient and his family's road to accepting the death and dying process. She is indeed a compassionate and caring nurse.
