I am a first-time mom and was feeling very overwhelmed with breastfeeding. I felt hopeless and very upset that I wasn't able to provide nutrition to my newborn and our doctor told me he had lost more weight than they like to see in the first week. He was barely eating and only sleeping in 15-30 minute spurts at night. I called Kira and could barely say hello before busting into tears about my struggle to feed my son. She made time for me to meet with her that day. My husband and I showed up very tired to the appointment. I went in for the assessment, and she was so encouraging and helpful. She provided a lot of information and hope for successful breastfeeding. I left our consultation feeling really good about feeding my baby. She asked us to come back in a few days for a weight check and that we were hoping his weight would plateau (no more weight loss, but gaining wasn't the expectation either). Over the next few days, we implemented her strategies, and our son ate like a champ- and we slept much better, too. We showed up to our appointment, and our son GAINED weight over the three days using the tips and support from Kira. Meeting with her completely changed my outlook on breastfeeding. We are so appreciative of our experience with Kira and would absolutely recommend seeing her to any first-time moms.
