We noticed my 1-year-old son was showing signs of distress and wheezing pretty intensely. We decided to take him to urgent care in Crystal Lake and from the moment we got there we were instantly greeted by comfort. Melissa went above and beyond to make us feel at ease when we clearly were feeling all sorts of anxiety.

1. She went as far as to pull up YouTube for our son to watch during his nebulizer treatment.

2. She let him touch a device before pressing it on him (to check oxygen) so that he would not be startled.

3. Explained all of our options in great detail on what each treatment would do.

4. Went over the benefits that our son would receive if we chose to go route A or B.

We never felt pressured on a right or wrong answer, she was constantly reassuring us that things were going to be ok and her delivery couldn’t have been more calming. Our visit was a total of 3 hours and she continued to make sure each of our questions were answered especially as time went on. When we were leaving she shared some of her personal insight on what has worked for her as a mom which gave my husband and I a sense of reassurance that she had been through this.

We left feeling like we just visited a family member. Melissa, I hope I never have to see you only because that would mean my son is sick again but just want to say this world needs more nurses like you.
