Lisa spent more than two hours in the patient’s room cleaning, combing, and caring for a patient most people would prefer to avoid.
Lisa asked if we could arrange to provide an extraordinary above-and-beyond service for a patient in room 484. This patient was admitted to a different unit for a time and then transferred to 4C PCU for closer monitoring. She came to BMCS from deplorable conditions – detached from reality, filthy, hair matted with who knows what, and infested with lice. I purchased and had a lice removal kit delivered from Walgreens and ANM Lisa spent more than two hours in the patient’s room cleaning, combing, and caring for a patient most people would prefer to avoid. A lice removal kit may be considered medical treatment, I don’t know, but the nonmedical element of the care shown by ANM Lisa MacClellan was an inspired moment of service above self. For this and similar acts as a part of her daily practice, she is richly deserving of this DAISY Award. Thank you, Lisa, for all you do for our patients, families, and team members! Congratulations on winning the DAISY Award!!
