After my Dad's passing, Holly came into the room and graciously helped us understand what would be taking place as my Dad's heartbeat came to a stop.
I went to see my Dad on either the 3rd or 4th floor, and in doing so, I met Holly. She introduced herself and gave me an update on my Dad's current status. She then wrote down her extension on paper and told me to call her anytime for questions or concerns. A few hours passed, and a rapid response was called to my Dad's room, where a decision was quickly made to get him to the ICU. Holly made sure to explain the situation to me the whole time, leaving no stone unturned.
Things did not seem to be going well with my Dad, so I called my mother and brother so they could arrive at Methodist. As I made my way to the ICU, the staff there were working away on my Dad, doing great work to keep him alive to the best of their abilities for my mother and brother to arrive. Upon their arrival, we were able, as a family, to make the decision that my Dad had had enough and to let him go on peacefully with the three of us there.
After my Dad's passing, Holly came into the room and graciously helped us understand what would be taking place as my Dad's heartbeat came to a stop. She then reconfirmed that she could be reached at that extension if there was anything at all that we needed… These were not just words from Holly. My family and I eventually went home, and in just a couple of hours, around 6 or 7 am, Holly called me on my phone and apologized that she did not get to see us again prior to leaving. She then expressed her sorrow for what we had just experienced and told me to say ‘Hello’ if I ever saw her again. Well, I did see Holly again, and she embraced me with a hug and a "God Bless you and your family." Holly must be recognized for her outstanding ability to bring peace and comfort during tragedy. She is a Nurse of Action, and it showed. Thank You, Holly.
