Caitlin was my labor and delivery nurse for my baby girl with a congenital heart defect. She started her shift shortly before they broke my water and was with me for the entire labor and delivery process. This was my second child, so I sort of knew what to expect, but Caitlin helped me beyond measure. She positioned me just right to help bring the baby down faster and coached me through the different stages of labor to expedite the process. What I appreciated the absolute most about Caitlin, though, was the care she gave me post-delivery. After birth is a very vulnerable time for a mama, trauma to the body, and a rush of hormones. Caitlin treated me with incredible kindness, compassion, and sympathetic care. Our baby needed to go to the Cardiac ICU shortly after birth, and Caitlin helped me through my window of recovery and helped get me down to her. She escorted me, brought me meds, and helped do whatever was needed to reunite me and my baby, all while providing the best care for ME as her patient. She is a rock star. If I were to have another baby, I would request her by name to be in the room with me!
