I am an 81-year-old and live alone. Due to an accident in October, I have had a visiting nurse every week since my release from the wound center in December. All Genesis visiting nurses were just wonderful and capable. The nurse who came every week was Michelle Johnson, and she helped me the most with not only my injury but also my mental state. The holidays depress me very badly due to the passing of my son to suicide. Michelle is special to me because she noticed my depression and took the time to listen and do little things to make me feel better. She checked my doctor appointments and made sure I was able to go to them. I believe good health care is not only tending to the body and administering appropriate medicine, checking vitals, relieving pain, or giving health advice. Health care should include taking steps to note the mental status of a patient, listen to them, and react accordingly. Michelle did that and helped me through a difficult time.
