It's nurses like Sarah who make a difference in this organization, one patient at a time.
J was admitted through the ED for a GI bleed. This was the second ED visit J had experienced in 48 hours, and he knew something was wrong.
J and his family expressed their concerns to Sarah about being discharged home with instructions to schedule a colonoscopy. Sarah took the time to listen to J, began advocating for my father-in-law, and followed up with multiple providers who eventually looked into this case and agreed that J could not be sent home with an active GI bleed. Eventually, she found someone who would schedule J for an immediate follow-up study to identify and treat the cause of his bleeding.
