I was a post-transplant patient who had my gallbladder removed at Hackensack Hospital. There were some complications during the surgery, which made it necessary to stay a night. I was in extreme discomfort, not able to tolerate any food or drink.

All the staff at the hospital were very helpful, but I want to single out my night nurse, Ashley Johnson. She has shown compassion and professionalism toward me and my family. She was constantly there, trying to make me comfortable by reaching out to my doctors to switch medications to alleviate my pain. She brought me warm blankets and heating pads when I was shaking uncontrollably due to the aftereffects of anesthesia. Her actions and truly caring words of encouragement helped me get through one of the most difficult nights of my life.

Ashley is a true compassionate professional who went beyond her call of duty and made an impact on me, which prompted me to write this review. I am going to be grateful to her forever.
