She spoke to him softly and treated him as if he were family - with gentle, loving care. He related so well to her. I felt he was in the best hands when she was on duty.
My stepfather, C, was admitted to Community through the ER from a Nursing Home. He was in really bad shape when we got him there. Below is a note from my mom, who wanted to thank, in a very special way, a nurse on 4, who treated C like he was her own father. While I observed all the staff on the floor as being truly caring and kind, Lin truly took the time to be present and authentic. To thank Lin, my mom gave her a card with money in it, thinking she could use it for her children. Had I known this, I would have advised against it since we are unable to accept these types of gifts. But I didn't know, and she provided the gift... And Lin could have kept it, not saying a word to anyone. But she didn't do that - she kept the card mom gave her and returned the money with a new card from herself.

From L: While C was at Community, even though all nurses were great, there was one who was the most attentive and caring. She spent time with him to be certain he was comfortable and not in pain. I feel she went above expectations and needs recognition. Linfang, who works on the 4th floor at the Community campus, is one nurse who cared for C during his stay. Every day that she was there, he was bathed, hair washed, clean shaven, fresh gown and blankets. She also took time to help him eat and reported to me how many bites he took and how much liquid he drank. She frequently performed mouth care and even used the lip therapy I provided. The cups I brought to keep his water and Ensure were always washed and supplied with fresh drinks. She spoke to him softly and treated him as if he were family - with gentle, loving care. He related so well to her. I felt he was in the best hands when she was on duty. Because of her exemplary care, I wrote a card to her and enclosed money as a thank you for all she did for him. She called to report the day of his discharge what she had done to prepare him and what he was able to drink before he left. Then said thank you for the beautiful card. She was unable to accept the money so returned the envelope to my niece (she was with him when discharged) but kept the card. Needless to say, I was sad she was unable to keep the money, but I was highly impressed by her integrity.
