Mona was a ray of sunshine during a very dark time in our lives. Her personality was extremely uplifting.
Do you believe in fate? Fate is what brought Nurse Mona into our lives. We had the pleasure of meeting Mona during my mom’s hospitalization at JFK. Mona was my mom’s nurse for multiple days while my mom received treatment and eventually had surgery. Mona was a ray of sunshine during a very dark time in our lives. Her personality was extremely uplifting. I spent most of my time at the hospital alongside my mom, as her diagnosis was frightening for our family and I wanted to keep a close eye on her. However, any day on which we were blessed with Mona as her nurse, a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I could confidently run home to shower knowing that my mom would receive the highest level of care that day. Mona’s passion for her work was obvious by the attention she gave to learning about my mom’s medical history and medications. She would notify us of any changes to medications, along with providing an explanation for the change. She would also inform us of any tests or procedures scheduled for the day. She patiently answered all our questions and trust me, I had a lot of questions. I have 15+ years of experience in Human Resources and I can assure you that Mona is an asset to your organization. She goes above and beyond to make her patients feel comfortable. I.e., notifying maintenance that the thermostat in the room was not working, removing the food tray from the room when food services didn’t return to collect it, ensuring my mom was bathed and both her bed sheets and gown changed when a patient care associate was unavailable to assist and connecting me with a contact from Infectious Control when I requested a conversation with that department. There’s no such thing as being short-staffed when it’s Mona’s shift, as she takes on many roles. She is the epitome of a hard worker. My mom has an intricate medical history. For that reason, we are familiar with several hospitals. In all the appointments and hospital stays over the years, we have never met a nurse like Mona. She is friendly, kind, extremely knowledgeable about patient care and most importantly, gifted at maintaining a positive atmosphere for her patients. Mona deserves to be recognized and celebrated.
