My daughter, T, was fighting for her life in the NICU, when Maia had been advocating for months for the doctors to do a more in-depth test in my daughter’s throat to figure out why she had an increase in code events. Finally, Maia had done some research and was stern that an in-depth scope of T’s throat should be done to ensure there were no abnormalities.

As you can imagine, she was met with push back because prior test they had performed didn't show indications of throat issues. However, the specialty teams did finally agree to triple check as no issues in her throat were present, and thank goodness they did because they found a connection between her throat and lungs. This test revealed her medical issue and allowed them to do surgery a few days later. 

My family will forever be in debt with Maia, if it hadn’t been for her, my sweet little girl may not be here today. Maia is a true DAISY Nurse; she is our angel.
