It is hard to explain in words the appreciation I have for Michael Mayo. Exceptional, compassionate, knowledgeable, kind, and patient are all traits Michael displays and excels at. He is innovative with his care and eager to provide comfort to his patient by any means possible. The constant repositioning, cold/heat therapies, even massaging to provide any type or relief did not go unnoticed. He was frequently checking-in, reassuring, educating and clarifying any questions or concerns. He showed true devotion and priority to his patient. It is truly remarkable how as a male nurse caring for his female patient in labor, Michael is the most empathetic person I have ever met. He shows extreme respect to the patient, family members and his coworkers. His pride in his work is clearly infectious to those around him. I know he is an amazing asset to the hospital and to the nursing profession. Michael constantly maintained my dignity by providing good hygiene care to myself and kept the environment clean. He gave me such confidence during the labor and delivery of my first child. I was truly able to relax and rest as best as I possibly could while under his care because I had such an overwhelming feeling of trust with him. I wish all patients could have the same amazing experience as I did with my nurse. Such amazing qualities in one person. The true example and definition of what it means to be a nurse. An advocate for his patients and a literal hand to hold.
