My mother had been in the hospital for 2 weeks in February and the day after she was discharged got re-admitted for another week. Although we had good nurses and medical staff, LaToya stood out above all the rest. LaToya was truly an angel in a time of need.

LaToya exemplified the Riverside Care Difference: "To care for others as we would care for those we love." I feel LaToya went above and beyond to care for my mother and make her feel comfortable. In talking with LaToya, I realized that she was not just going through the motions of caring; I believe LaToya genuinely cares for her patients and their families.

I cannot tell you how much LaToya always had a smile and offered to check back; not because it was her "job" but because she cared. LaToya certainly performed her job in a professional manner and prioritized where she needed to be without making you feel like you were not the most important patient to them. 

LaToya was willing to get my mom out of bed even when it was difficult. She also helped to feed her when they checked in for routine rounds because she knew she was not eating/drinking adequately. 

She was a shoulder to lean on for me while I watched my mom deteriorate. A week after my mom was finally discharged for the 2nd time, she passed away. I can honestly say that LaToya will be remembered as an angel who gave my mom the best care that she could possibly receive.

I am glad LaToya is a fellow Riverside employee and a valued part of the Riverside family! It is not often in this day and age that you come across someone who truly cares from the heart, but this nurse is definitely one in a million who really touches you with their compassion, kindness, healing, and heart. Thank you for recognizing this nurse with a DAISY Award, which is so well deserved.
