I am writing this for my mother, who had the good fortune to have Morgan assigned as her nurse. She was admitted for COVID, which can be difficult enough, but she also has MS, which was heavily affected by the illness. During this time, my mom and I came to the conclusion that my husband and I were no longer equipped to give her the level of care that she deserved and required. This has been an emotional time for obvious reasons. Coupled with the feelings of isolation in a COVID room, my mother has struggled emotionally as well as physically during her stay. Morgan went above the call of duty to make my mom feel heard, comfortable, safe, and genuinely cared for. She stayed with her when she was upset, anxious, and crying despite her extremely busy job requirements. When my mom was feeling especially cold, she asked her what her favorite color was, and returned with a handmade prayer shawl from the chapel in my mom’s favorite purple. Morgan legitimately changed her outlook about her difficult and lonely stay. My mother wants to nominate Morgan for being a spark of light during a hard time. She made a difference. She says, “Give her every bonus or award you can give her!”
