She established a wonderful rapport right away. Nancy explained everything as my labor was progressing and answered all my questions.
Nancy was my L&D nurse for my entire labor experience. She took excellent care of me, my twins, and my visitors the entire night. This was my first pregnancy, and there were several complications, including twin-twin transfusion syndrome, resulting in the fetal demise of one twin. I also was threatened with pre-term labor just a few days before. When I arrived in L&D on the evening of St. Patrick's Day, Nancy complimented my festive St. Patrick's Day green socks. We joked about how my birthday was just the day before and how having a birthday on St. Patrick's Day for my son would be so much fun. She established a wonderful rapport right away. Nancy explained everything as my labor was progressing and answered all my questions. She helped me very promptly receive an epidural and repositioned me several times throughout the night as I got "hot spots." I even managed to get a few hours of sleep! She was very sensitive and caring about my stillborn twin and encouraging about my living twin. After the birth, she immediately helped me and my husband during the golden hour to start collecting colostrum. She gave us amazing pumping tips since she knew my baby would be in the NICU for a while. She stayed late past her shift to make sure everything was taken care of to move me over to postpartum. To top things off, she visited me the next evening just to check on me and asked about my baby! I'll never forget Nancy, and I'm lucky that I had her as my nurse during the birth of my sons.
