She was a true advocate for her, engaging in medical questions with the provider team.
Our sister has been at MWHC since she suffered a brain aneurysm. The doctor operated on her and saved her life. Since then, she has gone through 12 surgeries, going in and out of ICU/IMC/ and rehab due to 2 infections. Prior to her TBI, she was very happy & independent. Recently, my family and I were visiting my sister at the IMC when we met Nurse Kelley –who was her primary nurse. She was excellent at taking care of her and went above and beyond her duties. She was a true advocate for her, engaging in medical questions with the provider team – for example, how long iron should be administered, calling dietary to get the right food, cleaning and brushing my sister’s teeth, and re-positioning her every two hours, to prevent bed sores, etc. We were very impressed and touched by her dedication, commitment, and caring for patients. My sister used to say that Nurse Kelley made her happy – she understood the trauma to care well. Given such a commitment to working with patients, we strongly endorse her for the DAISY Award for doing excellent work for my sister during her difficult time. On behalf of our own family, we cannot say thank you enough to Nurse Kelley!
