The first day I met with Joy Martin on the job interview was almost 5 years ago. I decided to be one of her team and that was the God-blessed decision I made. I have been working with her since 2019. I have worked in my nursing career for 26 years in several places, but I have found Joy is the best leader I have ever had. I feel like my department is my 2nd home. Coming to work with brothers and sisters at 4 East is my joy to be able to help my family, and my patients. Whenever we have difficulties, Joy always supports us in finding the best solution. She is an optimistic, uplifting, positive person. I love it when she posts positive quotes to remind us in every moment to live with gratitude, love, and light shining for others. She is not only promoting team members' strengths and providing opportunities for individual improvement but also supporting them so that they can grow and learn more. Joy is a caring, compassionate, and thoughtful person. She is always on call at night to check on us to ensure that everything is going well with her team. I know that she has worked so hard to make sure we have work-life balance. She always directs team members to stay on the right track of quality improvement. Joy does all of this and cares as much as she does, even though she covers three different units. Joy knows how to motivate staff by being positive and praising them rather than focusing on their faults. She is the best role model for professionalism, a positive attitude, and caring. She is an excellent candidate for this award! Cone Health needs more leaders like Joy!
