Even though we were having a busy and overwhelming shift, when Laura was there to charge, stress seemed to be less. She is a very joyful person to work with.
Laura Ahrens was an excellent charge nurse to work with and I am very positive most of the people agree with me. Even though we were having a busy and overwhelming shift, when Laura was there to charge, stress seemed to be less. She is a very joyful person to work with.
I had a patient in severe respiratory distress, very anxious, screaming. I needed to call the doctor so she came to the room and helped me assist the patient and stay in the room at the bedside throughout the whole experience until the patient was stable. She was so calm and patient throughout the whole event.

Laura Ahrens has been a Charge Nurse for a number of years. I can state unequivocally that
there is a definite feeling of security when Laura is in charge, that she is there for you whenever you have a patient in crisis, she is right beside you assisting you in helping the patient to recover from the physical difficulty they are experiencing, she assists you with moving your patient to a higher level of care i.e. ICU and assists you with the charting and documentation, she never gets flustered or overwhelmed and her calm demeanor has a very stabilizing effect on the staff nurse.

Whenever I have to float to Telemetry and Laura is the Charge Nurse, she always takes care of me. She made me feel comfortable and truly supported. Any questions or concerns that I had in caring for my cardiac patients, I knew that Laura was available and willing to assist me.
