Amanda Wyrick is an extremely passionate nurse. She frequently gets recognized by her patients and their families for the care and compassion she gives to her patients. On 3 North we have a patient that has been in our unit since early October. This patient rarely has any visitors despite the fact she has family in town. Due to surgery she had this admission she has very limited mobility and is unable to be safely discharged to her previous living arrangements. It has been frequently discussed at rounds that the patient seems sad or depressed. Amanda decided on one of her days off to bring a little happiness to this patient and showed up with all the supplies to give this patient a manicure. (She also brought her fellow nurses doughnuts to sweeten the deal.) She spent most of her morning pampering this patient with a manicure and conversation.
Amanda has a giant heart of gold and always gives 100% of herself to her patients. This is just one example of the love and kindness she shows to her patients and fellow coworkers.
