Noli has demonstrated not only a genuine love for his job, but moreso, his patients. He delivers holistic care, ensures he is practicing using ethical standards and protects his patient’s rights, and shares skills and knowledge with his fellow colleagues. One such example of his overall care and compassion has to do with one particular patient. Noli takes care of a patient that is deaf and utilizes the Bluestream interpretive system. This patient can be a challenge and has “kicked out” almost every nurse on our team with her “hot temper”. On his first visit, this patient was proving to be a challenge; he embraced her challenge. He sat down, listened to her, and learned to work with her and her anxiety. He took the time to ensure she understood her plan of care with the help of the interpreter and shared this with the other nurses. He ensures that her rights are always maintained and has gone out of his way to make sure she is always comfortable and ready for her visits. One such example that Noli will always do is sit down and explain to her what the plan is. If he is off, he will explain who will be coming to see her, and will give report to the nurse, not just through a note to ensure she is comfortable with who will be coming into her home. To this day, this patient looks forward to his visits, and boasts about his care. In her eyes “no one can care for her like him.”
