My boyfriend was admitted following a motorcycle accident. After surgery, he never woke up. We desperately needed answers and finally had some. He had a fat emboli travel to his brain. It has been four days since I have talked to my best friend. Four days since my life changed. We have had some amazing nurses looking after him, but none have made me laugh, feel seen, feel heard, feel like I was able to have hope like Laura. She is so dedicated to his care and has been more than willing to take the time to answer my questions as well as comfort me. Staying in the hospital has not been easy, but Laura has made it so much easier. I know that he would absolutely love Laura, too. She has an amazing light to her. She is witty, kind, and an incredible nurse. She has kept me grounded in the most compassionate way. He would have so much fun making jokes with her and would go back and forth with her all night. I can’t wait for him to wake up and meet her. We hope that we have her again when she works next. Her care is phenomenal, her knowledge is incredible, her humor is quick and relatable, and her patience is unwavering. I could really gush about her for days. She 100% deserves a DAISY and so much more.

My son has been in the ICU for five nights so far. Laura has been his night nurse for two of those nights. She puts us at ease completely with her expertise and compassion. She treats my son like she knows him. She comes in and says, “Hey sugarpop.” He doesn’t respond because he can’t, but it puts a smile on my face. I can’t wait for him to wake up and meet her because they will become fast friends! I can’t imagine doing her job, but I’m so thankful for the passion inside of her.
