But we were quick to put all our trust in Mary and she handled it so well.
On one of the hardest days of our life, losing our tiny 20-week-old baby girl, there was one thing that made our experience a little lighter. Mary was the calm, safe place in our chaos. From the moment we arrived, we felt understood, we felt her empathy, and we truly felt like she was grieving with us as she was so calm and knew exactly what to say, even when there were truly no words. The trust you must give to nurses in this situation isn't given easily, as we were at our lowest point in life. But we were quick to put all our trust in Mary and she handled it so well. We were with her for her entire shift, and as her shift ended, everything got so scary so fast. 45 minutes after her shift ended, she walked in, and although I was in the worst pain I've ever felt in my life, it was like a weight off my chest seeing her and feeling her calm presence. She will forever be the light in our tragedy. If I could nominate her 1,000 times, I would.
