My aunt has pancreatic cancer and has been coming to City of Hope in Duarte for 2 years now. We have had our share of encounters with nurses, doctors, and overall staff, and they are GREAT! This week is the first time since my aunt was diagnosed that she has landed in the hospital. We were very nervous and scared about what the outcome would be. Abby was absolutely AMAZING, and we spent all day talking about how good and compassionate she was. Never once did she show any fatigue, which I’m sure she had, or stress. She is like a ray of light coming into the room. My aunt was scared, but Abby answered all our questions very knowledgeably. No question was a “dumb” question to her, and she answered everything so kindly. Abby truly goes above and beyond for her patients, even helping cleaning staff with a room so that it is ready faster for my aunt. She accommodated my aunt so well. Her skill, knowledge, compassion, caring, kindness, and selflessness show in everything she does! I really can’t put into words how amazing she is. All nurses during our stay were amazing, but Abby really takes the crown! And is more than deserving of this award! As cliche as this sounds, Abby is an angel to, I’m sure, many patients there. I really don’t think she understands the amount of peace we had knowing Abby would be her nurse because we knew she would be in great hands. God bless all City of Hope staff.
