Kathy Humbert is a nurse who has been employed for many years at our hospital. She has experience from her employment in the field of behavioral health. I have seen her performance, taking care of our clients with the utmost professionalism. From working in the ER, Acute BH units, and floating doing break coverage on all the BHS units, she is capable of picking up the ball and facilitating any assignment she is presented with. She maintains safety and privacy. Many times, she has come to cover for other nurses for their dinner break and has been confronted with imminent situations. She will not delay a patient’s need by suggesting to wait until the Charge Nurse returns. From accepting admission reports, receiving new patients, assisting the medication nurse with a patient’s request for something as simple as a nicotine lozenge order, and helping figure out technical issues within our computer programs, she is willing to give a hand and with a smile, too! She knows the different unit's safety precautions. If she questions something, she will check with staff before proceeding on her own. She is very informed about upcoming changes around the hospital. Often, I will think, “I’m going to ask Kathy how to go about this or that when she comes tonight.” She is an unofficial educator.
