Matt’s compassion, professionalism, and skill were above and beyond what we expected and desired for our GG.
I do not even know where to begin describing the care that Matt recently provided to my grandmother, GG. She visited Saxony ED twice in one week as a result of falls at her memory care facility. Unfortunately, the second fall resulted in a broken hip. At 90 years old, our family struggled to make the best decision for her plan of care. After many tough conversations (with family spread between California and here), we finally came to the agreement that hospice care was the best option for her.

Throughout the day, Matt provided care to GG as if she were his own family member. He spoke softly, was so gentle and tender with her and also took the time to support us. He not only dealt with our family’s crazy antics but obviously cared about the best outcome for GG. The ED was busy throughout the day, and Matt ended up caring for a critical patient, but he still checked in with us frequently, which made us feel like GG was his only patient.

GG was transferred to another local hospital (as there were a lot of moving parts and decisions were made as transport arrived), but we wish we could have taken him with us. Matt’s compassion, professionalism, and skill were above and beyond what we expected and desired for our GG. Of course, we all wish the situation had a better outcome, but Matt “celebrated” with us as we all were able to get onto the same page and do what is best for GG. There are not enough words to thank him for the lasting impact that he has had on our family!
