Frantz exemplifies the best of nursing care and compassion, and we are incredibly grateful to them. My father-in-law was in the hospital for 11 days, most of them in the PCU. This nurse provided care not only to my father-in-law but also checked in with the family to ensure they were doing okay from a social-emotional standpoint. My mother-in-law was struggling, and the nurse took her aside and privately spoke to her, which was a great source of comfort.

Additionally, when the family became very confused regarding the medical information that was presented, Frantz took the time to complete a comprehensive record review and reach out to the physician for clarification. This was above and beyond our expectations. Frantz then returned to the family to explain the results in a manner that was easily understood, which put the family at ease.

Perhaps one of the strongest attributes Frantz demonstrates is their compassion and ability to build rapport with not only the patient but the family as well. Frantz was able to determine that the family loves ethnic food and shared stories and experiences about Haitian food! This nurse’s kindness and caring for the entire family makes them the ideal candidate for the DAISY Award.
