Somehow, with Cecilia's leadership, she is able to motivate us to move forward, and as the leader goes, so does the unit. Things settle down, and we usually have an incredible night.
My first impression of Cecilia was how obvious it was that she absolutely loves being a nurse. In a time of staffing shortages and nurse frustrations, Cecilia strives for a healthy work-life balance. Always coming to work with a fresh, positive attitude. Each shift is an opportunity to do better. She has a passion for excellence and is able to bring herself fully to her job. Always setting the tone for how our night will be. We could walk into the Cognitive Health Unit, and it would feel like a hurricane just came through it. Call bells to ring, agitated patients, a whirlwind of chaos, leaving us to wonder how we will ever get through the night. Somehow, with Cecilia's leadership, she is able to motivate us to move forward, and as the leader goes, so does the unit. Things settle down, and we usually have an incredible night. We couldn't do our job without her. She creates a team environment and reinforces how each team member has a part in making the whole team dynamic work. She leads by example.

Often I have over heard Cecilia in discussion with patients who are having a hard time. Taking to heart the wants and needs of patients as individuals. I've had patients who want to know her name because she made them feel safe and valued. Recently, a patient called me into the room to ask who she was because she had never met anyone as caring and understanding as she felt with Cecilia. She takes the time to remember a patient's birthday or finds a way to make a patient smile. It's the simplest things that make the most difference.

An advocate for continual learning, former ICU nurse, and currently NP. Her level of expertise ensures we have a strong resource when needing to manage a difficult patient. We are able to go to her, knowing she will never make us feel inadequate or less. She understands NGHS Policy and procedures and works with staff, whether it's constructive education or just being a great listener, so we can feel heard. She does hold us accountable but in a kind, compassionate manner where she is trusted, and we grow in our practice with her feedback and guidance. Working with her has pushed me beyond levels of personal and professional growth I never realized I could obtain. She is a DAISY - inspiring all who work with her to blossom.
