We would like to nominate Jess for the DAISY Award for providing exceptional care for our father. Our father suffered from a stroke and was transferred to Lahey Hospital from our local hospital. We were shocked and scared and did not know what the outcome would be. The doctors successfully removed a significant clot from his brain, and he was sent to the neurosciences ICU, where Jess was his nurse. She was calm, supportive, understanding and a great advocate for our dad. English is a second language for our dad, and she was never frustrated with him when he didn’t know exactly what she was asking. He’s a proud, independent 81-year-old man who wanted no help, especially when having to use the restroom. Jess reassured him that it was her job to take care of him and to relax. She brought such a sense of relief and peace to our family during a very chaotic time. We knew our dad was in good hands with her.

I don’t know if she really knows how thankful we are for her, but we hope this DAISY Award will let her know how great she really is. In a time when healthcare workers are overworked and understaffed, Jess never showed any stress or frustration. Jess you are a rockstar! Thank you! Our father is currently doing amazing and required no services from PT, OT, etc.. He feels like himself and we’re so thankful for Nurse Jessica and the entire staff!
