Amy answered all our questions in a way that we could understand, and she made sure we were as comfortable as possible with that decision. I knew my mother was in the best hands when Amy was there.
Amy was one of my mother's nurses during her stay in the ICU. We came up from the ER, and Amy was one of the first people we encountered. She was very sweet and kind, and she didn't seem bothered by my MANY questions. My mother experienced a lot of different issues all at once; some of these I had dealt with during her previous hospital stays, but many were very new and quite scary. Amy ensured that I understood absolutely everything that was happening, and she made certain we were informed about any changes. I am not sure how aware my mom was of what was happening to her, but she never seemed to be uncomfortable or in pain. Amy made sure that she always had what she needed. When the decision had to be made to remove my mother from life support, she again answered all our questions in a way that we could understand, and she made sure we were as comfortable as possible with that decision. I knew my mother was in the best hands when Amy was there (though I want to emphasize that the rest of the staff was also amazing). I owe her a huge thank you, one that I don't know if I could ever adequately express in words. My mom had been in and out of the hospital a lot during the last couple of years of her life. I don't remember many of the staff members who took care of her, but Amy, I won't forget.
